Garage Conversion Into Living Space In Chertsey
An unused garage in Chertsey has been completely transformed into a liveable space, giving the customer's daughter a practical new area to use.
The existing garage was allowing water in and was not being used effectively. D Sharp Design & Build carried out a comprehensive conversion, addressing the roof and exterior before completely renovating the interior with new insulation, plastering, flooring, electrics, heating and bifold doors.
The Customer's Brief
The garage was largely unused and had developed problems with water ingress, leaving the customer unsure about how best to make use of the space.
The customer's daughter wanted to use the garage as a living space, so the project involved much more than simply improving its appearance.
The aim was to convert the existing garage into a comfortable and usable interior while upgrading the external structure at the same time.
What We Did
The project involved a complete transformation of both the exterior and interior of the garage.
New Roof and External Improvements
We installed a new roof using a three-layer felt torch-on system, providing a completely renewed roof covering for the garage.
New fascias, soffits and guttering were also installed.
The exterior walls were finished with white silicone render, giving the converted garage a clean and contemporary appearance.
New Bifold Doors
We installed new bifold doors across the front of the garage.
The large glazed opening creates a significant visual change to the building and provides a modern connection between the newly converted space and the garden.
Complete Interior Renovation
Once the external work was completed, the interior was fully renovated.
The walls were insulated before new plasterboard was installed and the surfaces were plastered and painted.
New LVT click flooring was also installed, completing the interior with a contemporary floor finish.
The conversion also included new electrics and heating, helping turn the previously unused garage into a properly equipped living space.
Attention to Detail
This project required several different elements of construction and finishing work to come together as one conversion.
From the new roof and external render through to the insulation, plastering, flooring, electrics and heating inside, the garage was comprehensively renovated rather than receiving a simple cosmetic makeover.
The white silicone render and bifold doors also give the exterior a significantly more modern appearance.
